Microsoft has recently purchased the search engine website, Yahoo in the US and Canada in order to compete with the unstoppable force of Google. The recent changes in players means that consumers will see dramatic changes to the performance of Yahoo searches in order to find people online more easier.

This may also mean that there may be a greater shift of businesses and bloggers using Yahoo as the best way in finding people online to network and collaborate with, especially as the Internet becomes more popular to us as a way to conducting businesses.

The changes will be made gradually as Microsoft plans to take over Yahoo worldwide. It is expected to occur late next year or in 2012.

About half a billion people worldwide are now using Facebook on a monthly basis. This exceeds North America's population. The social network now has 75 people for every square mile of Russia, the world's largest country by land mass.

As a country, Facebook would be the third most populous nation just behind China and India. And very few countries can beat out Facebook when it comes to multinational identity.

There are more than one billion computers in use in the world today. Experts predict there will be two billion active computers in the world by 2010. If both will still go strong in three years, who will get to two billion first, the PC or Facebook?
Most Facebook users are in North America, with 35.4 percent of the continent actively logging on to Facebook every month.

About 17 percent of Europeans are on Facebook, while only 2.3 percent of people living in Asia use Facebook. However, no one uses Facebook like the people living in Oceania (which has Australia and surrounding island nations). Making up only 2.3 percent of Facebook's user base, 40.3 percent of Oceania's population like Facebook.

Facebook Users Number Half A Billion

The number of Facebook users yesterday reached the half-billion mark according to reports from the social networking web site. However, analysts doubt Facebook will have just as easy a time to sign up its next half billion members.

Facebook is the most dominant social networking site, overwhelmingly exceeding rivals like Myspace along with multiple emerging competitors. But 2010 hasn't been a good year for the company, with many users angered over the site's distasteful privacy policies and controls.

A recent survey shows that most of Facebook's users are not happy at all with the site. These privacy issues are expected to cause Facebook to have a rough time signing up its next 500 million users.

Many experts think that Facebook has to fix its privacy problems. Only old-fashioned peer pressure is keeping users hooked on Facebook in spite of their frustrations with the site.

If the current frustration isn't dealt with by Facebook, users might be more open to going to a new social network.
